Ordered 2 steaks for over ¥20,000 but the food was underwhelming. Rib eye steak has too much untrimmed fat around the edge. The premium beef was pan fried, not the best way to cook such fatty beef 😥

Best steak i ever have in Japan. Pricey but worth it. Hida beef steak here is just so good. Very nice service and staffs are very friendly. Highly recommend if you visit Takayama.

With a western look and feel, kitchen hida serves great hida steaks. Of course the higher the grade higher the price. A little pricy but worth a try.There are dishes(grill skirt steak & hamburger patty) with limited serving. Do pop by early to try them.

The best western restaurant in town. Service, cleanliness, comfort, vibe, and food were all good. The Chateaubriand and the homemade ice-cream are must tries.

Amazing steak dinner. Not cheap. The chef knows what he’s doing and is trained in western cooking techniques. We sat at the bar and watched him as he prepared our steaks. We ordered a sirloin and a chateau briande. The chateau briande was amazingly tender. Be prepared to spend money but it’s worth it.

Great steak house. Perfect place if you want to try local Hida beef. Very good value for money. On a bit pricey side but worth the money. The house sauce is especially good. Goes perfect with the steak. I tried both A4 and A5. A4 is a bit leaner so may be easier to finish as a steak. Staff is very friendly and welcome to foreigner. If you arebin town, you must visit and experience the local Hida beef.

Nice restaurant, not particularly "japanese" but service and food are great. Hida beef steak was very good, soft and tender. A place to try for sure.

I came here for a lunch. I saw the restaurant on the way to Takayama Jinya as I walked there, and decided to pay a visit on the way back. I had the A5 grade sirloin Hida-gyu steak. It was about 70 bucks per 100 g and easily the most expensive steak I've ever had but it was oh so good. They cook steak either on a grill or braised. They have been cooking steak braised since they opened the restaurant half a century ago, and so I decided to go with the braising. It melted away on my tongue.

Very very good steakhouse. Prices are worth the quality of the beef. A small not so busy restaurant of the beaten path, it is worth the sidetrip as this is not located along the tourist road. Amazing experience to eat at this fine restaurant.

Delicious Hida beef... they bring the cut to you for your approval before they cook it... They kept my sake and water cup full... English menu as well as a few English speaking staff... if you are in Takayama and don't mind spending around ¥10000 per person on the best beef on Earth then this is the place for you.
